For me it is not so clear if the current patent system is necessary.
So a more statement :
"I call the EU to build a new innovation investment protection system"

would be more preferable.

Knowledge can not be owned by someone.
Patents pretends this is the case.

Investment in innovation should be earned back excellence knowledge of the matter and experiences.
A certain protection of an implementation could be accepted. If patents would be limited to this only then the call could stay like it is formulated now.
